Hilton Head Favorites {July 2010}

Do I even need to say it?!

Yeah, I see a portrait in our future. : )

Complete water baby.  She would have stayed out there all day-

A millisecond after I took this shot, you guessed it.  Water in the face.
Good timing!

Dawn and her girls came for the trip also.  Dawn was leaving Wednesday because she had to work, and  planned on the kids staying the rest of the week with Pete's parents.  (We were only there Sunday thru Tuesday.)  Tuesday the girls got SO sun burned that they had to go home with her early.  Tracie's face was actually SWOLLEN it was so bad.  Everyday they were getting more and more red, and I guess they just couldn't stay covered!?  OOOOH makes me so mad I could just smack 'em!

Funnest thing we did!  The bike trailer!  We rented bikes and a trailer form the condo, and we LOVED it!  I have been trying to find a used one to buy (any ideas anyone?!) and we can't wait to make this a regular thing.  Both the girls even fit perfect in there together.  I wished we had one when her cousin Mason was in town over the 4th.  They stuck together and played so cute.  Those shots are about 6 folders back in the "to-be-posted" pile on my desktop though.  They're super cute, soon to come.

In case you're wondering, we are helping each other "think."
A long time ago, I started tapping my chin in thought, "Hummm..." and she would copy me when I ask her a question.  When she has to "think" too.  Now I ask her to 'help me think' and she taps my chin.
Cracks me up.

So, here's us packed in like sardines for bed.  There is NO room to walk once we get those beds out.  Reagan (in pack-n-play) and Pete's parents in the bedroom, Becca on the bunk bed, Tracie on the couch, Dawn and Chelsea on their air mattress, and Junior and I on ours.
And one bathroom?!
Must be crazy!
We just love each other THAT much! : )

We always stay up and watch movies.  It's like you're a kid again having a sleep over.  Love it.

Jibber Jabber {June 24, 2010}

This is the best.
She really is having a conversation with us, we have yet to understand it though.

Every day her talking is a little different.
Posting this now seems weird because she doesn't even make these sounds anymore, I'll just have to get more video!

I always knew, when she finally starts talking it will hit like a tidal wave.  She really is very smart, and understands EVERYTHING we say to her.  I think the wave's about to break.  I've got a few weeks maybe?  You know how you get all excited about a few little noises your child makes, then some 'seasoned' parent reminds you to enjoy the silence now?  I was thinking about it the other day, that our house really is quiet, and I have a feeling that the WHY WHY WHY questions will just be dumping by the truck load out of this child.  Maybe I should enjoy the peace and quiet while I still have it!

Bedtime {June 23, 2010}

This is a perfect night with Reagan.  Eat dinner, bath time, and get dressed in our jammies before bed.  LOVE IT.

She NEVER forgets to kiss her Sissy before bed, even though Cirs could go her whole life without it.

Heaven.

Now.

That is what a NORMAL night is like.

  We had a period of 6 LONG days last week where Reagan did NOT want to sleep in her bed.
It's almost like she was afraid of it?!
This is the most predictable baby, and she really ONLY sleeps in her bed. She always wants to do it on her own and never rocked to sleep.  (I worked hard on that when she was little, (1st time it ever bit me in the butt though)  I could not figure anything out to do, so she stayed up doing the only thing that would calm her, watching Maria.  We got 2 hours into the movie, PAST bedtime and NO nap mind you, until she dragged me into the bedroom and cried for 30 seconds before crashing.
During that LONG week, she would PANIC when I put her in bed, so naps were out of the question, weird for a baby who normally takes a 2 hour nap.?  I just had to pray that she would crash out of exhaustion at the end of the day.

Things are okay now, thank goodness.
I still have no idea what happened to her, or why she was so afraid.  The child doesn't see anything remotely scary on TV and only watches Maria, Word World and SuperWhy. We really couldn't figure it out.

Sometimes you do all you can, and there still is no answer.  I always try to remember that what doesn't work today, might work tomorrow.  But sometimes when you are 'in the moment' you can feel
 completely helpless.

(don't worry, I didn't step away to get the camera during her panic moments. We were just playing, taking some pictures a few days before and she was being a little whiny about a toy or something...  I'm not completely cruel.)
