Almost ready... {August 19, 2012}
I'm 5 weeks from due date for our little girl, and starting to feel a little more prepared. I believe people when they say things are sooo different with your second. I have put off getting ready, "oh, we have plenty of time!" which was the opposite with Reagan.
We just started getting her room ready about a week ago, Reagan's bed has been moved and Junior did a beautiful job closing in the dormer to make a little room for Scarlett. Scarlett. That's the closest we've come to a name, but not 100% yet ; ) There has been drywall powder all over the bedroom for a few days waiting on him to finish sanding and yesterday was the official cleaning day. I'm starting to feel better now I guess. Our last pre-baby wedding was last weekend, and I just finished editing today, whew. I'm surprised I made it through that one! This past spring I couldn't decide to book that wedding or not, but when the bride said she was a midwife, I took it as a sign. ; ) And I am SO glad I did because they were wonderful~
I have Scarlett's first batch of clothes ready to run through the wash and we just put the crib together today. Car seat, swing, bassinet, and other necessities have been cleaned and put together all with Reagan's help. : ) I just think, 21 days from now is when we had Reagan! There's still more organizing to do for the house, and a trip to BuyBuyBaby and Walmart and I'll be set. I think. I don't have a single diaper yet... THAAAT could be useful!
I love being pregnant, and overall everything has been great but I don't remember my body ever feeling 'ready already' with Reagan. I'm still 3 weeks from when I delivered Reagan, and most days I hit a point when my body has just had it. Mostly because I'm carrying her so much lower than I did Reagan, and I feel like there's NO muscles there to hold me together. Even sitting down and standing up is a pain! How did this happen?! Reagan has been so sweet. When I tell her I can't bend over to help her with something or to pick something up she asks me if I want to sit down, if my pot hurts, or if 'Starwet' is poking me. It wasn't until about a month ago that she wanted to feel her move, but now she's all about it : )
We just had our last sonogram this past Wednesday, (34 weeks 2 days) and she is a CLONE of her sister!!! I couldn't help but laugh when I saw her. I mean, seriously, it was like looking at Reagan's newborn picture. Crazy... No doubt a Pace nose like her mommy, and PawPaw says those are Lord lips : ) I can't wait to meet her! The whole appointment was actually draining, since we were there over 3 hours and then find out she is transverse (laying sideways, not head down.) I'm told she can still turn at this point, but most babies are in position by now : ( Next Wednesday's appointment is when Dr. Bartley wants to talk options if she still hasn't turned which freaks me out a little. I'm probably not going to have a version (where they try and turn the baby) because I've heard they are painful, little risky, and don't always work. If she doesn't turn in time on her own though, it's looking like a c-section. Boo. There's a chance she still could, and Poppy said maybe she's a typical woman and just running late : ) I know it's a lot to ask, but I pray for an identical delivery to Reagan's. Wouldn't that be awesome if we had a choice!?!
So from here we wait, keep cleaning, and hope Scarlett gets in position. With the way this girl kicks, she's definitely active enough to move somewhere!
For fear of posting without a Reagan shot... Tah-dah! This was taken on our way home from Disney in May. We spotted this field and pulled over on the side of the road for a quick shot. Love it : )
So exciting you're getting so close! Ivy was transverse from about 34 weeks until I went into labor. She was actually still transverse when I got to the hospital but turned within an hour of me getting there. Reagan is going to be such a great big sister!
