I have had a piece of my grandmothers wedding gown for years, never sure what to do with it worthy of her. Kaki is my maternal grandmother and was one of the most wonderful, influential people in my life~ Reagan and I both carry her maiden name 'Pace.' I wish all the time that she could have known my girls. Reagan says she's excited to meet her one day, and that she wants to live in the same neighborhood as her up in heaven. ; )
It hit me one day that I needed to take pictures of my girls with this priceless piece of lace. Twenty minutes later I was set up on my bedroom floor with fabric spread out and camera in hand. : )
I could not be more thrilled, and I'm sure Kaki is as well.
This image was the winner for me. I've had an enormous frame sitting empty for a few years waiting to frame the perfect picture. I always envisioned a session of both my children (long before Scarlett was here) and I finally have it... Ahhh. : ) I love these sweet girls and how perfect to have them with a piece of Kaki~
I surprised my mom with a portrait for her house a few weeks ago. She hadn't even seen the pictures yet so it was a complete surprise. When she first saw it, I knew there would be tears. Her only two grandchildren, with their cute little Pace noses, laying on her mother's wedding gown. She shocked me though, by just smiling and saying "how sweet, I love it!"
What?!
Then I pointed out to her that it was HER portrait and that was Kaki's gown and she lost it.
Walked out of the room, lost it.
Kaki holds a special place in both of us~
I love you Kaki, and miss you always~
